SolarPRO XD2

Heat pool water the GREEN way using solar energy. SolarPRO Pool Heaters provide an unbeatable price to performance ratio. Add weeks to the swimming season with free energy from the sun heating the pool water. Ideal for use with popular above ground and most in ground pools. Multiple heaters can be connected in series to increase heating efficiency.

How It Works
When properly installed, the solar heater will be connected to your filter and your pool by two hose connections: One hose will feed cold, filtered pool water from your pump into one port of the solar heater. The other hose will feed sun warmed water from the other port of the solar heater to your pool via the pool return inlet in your pool. As cold water is fed into the solar heater, it travels through the solar coils where it is heated by the sun before it is delivered back into your swimming pool.

  • Designed for any size above ground or in ground pool (Bypass Kit, Item 4555, required for pools using 1 HP pump or higher or on any in ground application)
  • Easy to install
  • Generates up to 3 times more heat than the SolarPRO XD1
  • 66 foot length of heating coil
  • No electric or gas connections
  • Adapters for INTEX® pools included
  • Includes protective cover to reduce heat loss
  • Full replacement warranty-90 days

Solar Heater Location
Your solar heater needs to be located on a hard level surface. You will need to position the heater lower than the pool’s water level and at a safe distance away from the pool.

  • The unit(s) should never be placed on the roof of any structure, or more than 60” above the water level of the pool.
  • The unit(s) may be angled toward the sun using the legs provided. Do not exceed the angle the legs produces, or 30 degrees from horizontal in any direction.

NOTE: The solar heater is to be installed between the filter and the pool water inlet, AFTER the water is filtered. The heater must come after the filter to prevent buildup in the tubing.

Q: Since you have to plumb this unit in permanently, what happens when if you decide to drain the water from the pool or you want to close it up in winter? Can you shut it off?

Posted On: 12/1/12 By: Deepak Walia

A: Yes, the water must be shut off going to the heater to close it up for the winter. You can just shut the pump and make sure the water is not in circulation.
Q: How many degrees will it increase the temperature of the water?

Posted On: 12/1/12 By: Deepak Walia

A: This would really depend on your location, how much sun the system is receiving and how cold it is.
Q: What are the dimensions of the heating unit?

Posted On: 8/23/12 By: Kim

A: The dimensions are 30.70″ L x 30.70″ W x 15.35″ H. Thank you!
Q: How far away from the filter input can I put the heaters? I would like to put them about 25 to 30 feet away to optimize the sun. Also, what would happen if i put them above the pools waterline?

Posted On: 6/11/12 By: Robert A. Guida

A: The maximum that we would recommend having this away from the pool is 10 feet. We would however, like to make sure that it is a safe distance from the pool and that it is lower than the pool's water level. Thank you! If you have any further questions please feel free to call or use our live chat feature at any time. Thanks!
Q: I have an inground pool. I don't really want to permanently plumb a heater in, but would rather bring it out as needed. I've seen fountains that connect directly to the pool inflows, and was wondering if this type of heater could be adapted to get its water supply with a similar adapter? Thanks.

Posted On: 4/21/12 By: Rick C.

A: Unfortunately, if you want to go with a heater, you will have to plumb it in. If you would like an alternative, I can suggest a transparent solar cover that will be easy to use, keep your pool warm and not hike up our electricity bill.
